Doula | A UX case study

Overview
In response to a unique assignment presented by DTT, our mission was clear: enhance an existing pregnancy app to make the journey of expectant mothers as smooth and informed as possible. The project's goals were well-defined, with a focus on elevating the user experience and functionality. Key objectives included introducing a symptom-logging feature, giving the app a modern and engaging visual facelift, and revamping the home screen to address identified pain points. We aimed to not only meet these goals but to also add a personalized and supportive touch to the app's design, while ensuring that our design decisions were transparently communicated.
Our journey began with a deep dive into the world of expectant mothers, seeking to understand their unique challenges. From managing symptoms to seeking relaxation, we left no stone unturned. This invaluable research became the cornerstone for developing a robust Information Architecture (IA) that would serve as the blueprint for our redesigned app. The new design was carefully crafted to offer a seamless, intuitive, and scalable experience. It introduced a modular audio player and a dedicated "symptoms" category, allowing users to effortlessly log symptoms, access real-time data insights, and connect with healthcare professionals when needed. We also implemented a user-friendly report system, enabling users to select and share symptom data with ease, thus lightening the load on healthcare providers.
In essence, our project embodies a commitment to enhancing the user journey. The design choices we made prioritize clarity, efficiency, and user empowerment. We've streamlined the symptom-logging process, offering real-time data insights and facilitating more effective communication between users and medical professionals. Through these deliberate design decisions, we've created an environment where users feel not just supported but informed, and ultimately, in control of their health during this transformative journey.
